Frequently Asked Questions

  • Interior designers focus on the design-specific details of your project. We design with you and your lifestyle in mind and have an interest in designing both a beautiful and functional space for you to live, work, and grow in.

We will quite often collaborate with builders, architects, and cabinetmakers to ensure that no corners are being cut when it comes to your final design.

Interior designers specialise in designing joinery, kitchens, bathrooms and colour consulting and our years of experience will show in your final product.

  • Every project has different wants and needs and is assessed on an individual project-by-project basis. We create a design brief tailored to your project based on the scope of works discussed in our initial consultation.

For example, if you engaged us to work on a small internal renovation that covered the kitchen, flooring, and an adjoining laundry/mudroom, you could receive the following.

    • Concept and mood boards that would be revised with you

    • A full set of working drawings that can be used by a builder or trades person (e.g. cabinetmaker, electrician) for quoting purposes and on site. This can include a floor plan, existing conditions, demolition plan, joinery plans, elevations and design details

    • A FFE schedule outlining specific materials, colours, fixtures and fittings

    • Various material samples

    • Presentation to you going through the design

    • Design management throughout construction

  • It sure is! If you up are for coordinating your own tradespeople and shopping for your own fittings, a set of drawings is the last piece of the puzzle. Overall, this is a cost-effective way to minimise the pricey project management fees charged by bathroom companies and reduce the price of your renovation.

Owning a set of plans for your bathroom renovation allows you to send these over to tradespeople such as plumbers, stonemasons, builders and tilers for quotations.

Having your bathroom professionally designed also makes sure that you are using your space effectively and aids in product selection.

  • Interior designers are commonplace in high-end renovations but are just as valuable in a mid-range kitchen, bathroom, and other renovation projects. Our pricing is based on the size of the space, complexity of design, and documentation required by the client. Schedule a free 20-minute consultation or in-home visit to see how we can help you achieve your ideal space whilst keeping within your budget.

  • Having your own designer is a slightly different (but better) approach to the common practice of having three cabinet makers to come to your home and quote. Typically, in-house designers at cabinet makers are paid to sell and not to design, so their main objective is for you to sign the bottom line and place an order. They play a numbers game and design several kitchens per day, with the volume of customers being their focus. At Kaas Interiors we don’t sell cabinetry, we are a true design service, with our name and reputation on the drawings. Our aim is for our designs to find a balance to suit you, your home, budget and personal style.

  • Having been in the business of designing beautiful spaces since 2013, we have come across our fair share of contractors and tradespeople. In this time, we have built a large network of people that can help turn your project into a reality.

We only work with people that we would use in our own home and base our selection on their quality of work, experience in their respective fields, and their communication.

When it comes to buying joinery, we realise that this is a daunting and confusing process for most people. So, we also provide a service to our clients where we can use our working drawings and industry experience to contact various cabinetmakers in our network to get cabinetry quotes on behalf of our clients.

Once quotes and estimations have been approved, you the client will enter into a separate contract with the respective tradesperson to have the work completed.

  • Once we discuss your scope of works in our initial consultation, we provide you with a detailed brief outlining what you will receive for a fixed fee. Any additions or variations to the initial brief are billed at a previously discussed hourly rate.

Through multiple revisions to our pricing structures, we have found this to be the most transparent way to charge our clients whilst still allowing them to budget for the project effectively.
